Bev James - CEO
Bev has over 25 years of experience working in the field of social and residential care with a variety of client groups. Her career has largely gravitated towards young people particularly those in or leaving care and she was the first residential foster carer in the UK to provide long term care for HIV positive children. Bev has run the Hardship fund successfully for many years and she now brings this expertise to her CEO position for which she's making applications to grant making trusts, marketing the charity, producing budgets, networking and partnership working within the HIV sector and corporate social responsibility programmes
Amena Zaman – Education and Outreach Manager
Much of Amena’s background is in Education, Youth & Community work,
working with children and young people to explore their feelings,
opinions and hopes for the future. She finds that helping people to
empower themselves with confidence, self-esteem and growth is a great
reward. Amena is responsible for organising workshops, and ensuring the
production of up-to-date resources that serve to educate the public on
HIV/AIDS issues. In addition, Amena facilitates work experience at CWAC
for young people.
Carole Velasquez - Services Coordinator
Carole's background lies in politics and development, and she has mostly been involved in advocacy work, gaining some significant experience in the HIV/AIDS field through working with community groups in East Africa as well as with the Crusaid charity in London. Carole runs the Hardship Fund and conducts research on HIV-affected children.
Paulina Bravo - Assistant Services Coordinator
Paulina joined CWAC in February 2010 as a volunteer and is currently assisting in CWAC Hardship Fund coordination. She is a nurse from Chile with clinical experience on palliative care for people in the late stage of AIDS. She is currently completing her PhD focusing her research on the psychosocial impact of HIV in young people.
